Why Relationships Need Regular Check-ins Like a Coffee Mug

☕ This morning, my coffee and I had… a situation.

I reached for one of my two favorite mugs, poured a perfect cup, and then POP! Coffee everywhere.

The seal on the bottom had given up, and my counter became a caffeine river. At 6:30 a.m., I was not emotionally prepared for mug carnage.

People and relationships can be a lot like that mug.

They look fine on the outside, but if you don’t check in on them, little cracks can grow until pop! and everything spills out.

Leading with kindness means tending to those “seals” before they break:

✔️ Ask how someone’s really doing (not just “fine”).

✔️ Give space when someone needs to reset.

✔️ Don’t wait for an early-morning pop to remind you that care takes maintenance.

So here’s to strong mugs, strong teams, and a little kindness to keep both from leaking all over the counter.

Now I'm going to need a backup favorite mug to my solo surviving favorite mug. ☕
