We are faced with choices every day. Coffee or tea? Fastest or most scenic route? Blue or red pill?
You can choose to get up or stay in bed (I’ll admit, I sometimes choose the latter, even if only for a few more minutes). You can choose to give someone grace or the finger when they cut you off in traffic. You can choose to grind away at work day after day hoping for a promotion or you can actively take steps to develop yourself. And while you can’t control every situation, you can control how you choose to react to it.
When you think about the word choice it feels like an active word. You choose. You make a choice. But as Rush said in their song Freewill, “if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”.
Overthinking or getting lost in the rabbit hole of “what ifs” can lead to analysis paralysis. You get so wrapped up in trying to make the right decision that you end up not doing anything at all. It’s still a choice.
So if you’re not happy with where you are in your career, relationships or personal development – choose to do something different today. Sign up for an online course, talk to a therapist or find a coach or mentor to help. Life is too short to not be happy.
It’s your choice.
